Make-up Work and Tests
Students will have a maximum of 3 days to make up any work or test missed during the absence.  However, I will use my discretion as to the length of time a student is given to make up work or tests.  This will depend on the number of days the student was absence, the nature of the absence, and the type of work that was missed during the absence.
It is the responsibility of the student to ask for any assignments that he/she may have missed.
If a student is absent the day before a test is given and was told prior to the absence the date of the test, the student will be required to take the test on the scheduled date.
Please see the student handbook for further information on this topic.

Grading and Testing
Grades will come from tests, quizzes, homework, daily assignments, lecture notes, labs, projects, and participation.
Tests will be given at the conclusion of each chapter (or section).
Tests will include objective type questions that will come from lecture notes, chapter reading, class discussion and examples, and text exercise problems.

Extra Credit
Extra credit is not given on an individual basis.  Please do not ask for it.
If I feel that some students are deserving of extra credit, the whole class will be given the opportunity to participate.  Please take advantage of the opportunity, even if you don’t need it.

Homework
All homework assignments are to be turned in at 8:00 a.m. the morning they are due.
Work that is turned in late will result in a 10 point deduction off of the grade.
No work will be accepted 5 minutes after class has started.
Please see the student handbook for further information on this topic.

Bathroom Policy
Please use the bathroom during appropriate times:  before school, during lunch, during breaks.
If you are tardy as a result of being in the bathroom, please return to class with a tardy slip.

Engrade
Grades are entered into a grade book located at www.engrade.com.  This is a wonderful resource for teachers, parents, and students.
Set up a free account by creating a username and password.  Your account will be confidential, and you will need to know your student ID number.  The only people with access to your grades will be you and your teacher.
Student ID numbers will be given out as soon as classroom roles are finalized.  Please keep up with this number, your username, and password so that you may check your progress at any time.

Lab Fee
Each student is responsible for paying a $20.00 lab fee.  This fee is applied toward equipment purchase and replacement and other chemical and material costs.
This fee is due no later than Friday, August 26, 2011.  Please pay your fee to Cari Ely, not the teacher.
Failure to pay this lab fee will result in a student’s inability to participate in labs.  Nonparticipation will result in a grade of zero for the lab.  This will continue until the fee is paid.
